Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American actor and musician. She started by releasing hilarious, intelligently composed music that tackled questions of racial identity and sexuality. Then she expanded her audience to Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was through the trumpet. In addition to classical and jazz, she started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. In college, she studied writing and women's studies. Then, she even had a short time studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. When she graduated, she started to concentrate on music. After becoming famous on the Internet the My Vag song My Vag was a reaction to the song of Mickey Avalon's My Dick. It eventually was included on the debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also contained viral hits like body positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC Bitche$1. The final track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. She opted to pursue acting as a profession after having completed her two previous projects, as an author and musician. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2, Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she landed major roles in a variety of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP,"In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
